The craftsman training scheme was introduced by the government of India in 1950 to ensure a steady flow of skilled workers in different trades for the domestic industry , to raise quantitatively and qualitatively the industrial production by systematic training to reduce unemployment among the educated youth by providing them employable training , to cultivate and nurture a technical and industrial attitude in the minds of the young generation

skilling has been one of the most focused agenda of government of India for the last few years. India is targeting to equip 400 million youth (by 2022) with industry relevant skills in multiple trades/ sector through various skill programs/schemes implemented at skilling institutions such as Skill Development centers (SDCs), Vocational Training Provides (VTPs), Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), and Polytechnics/engineering Colleges etc. Initiatives like “Make In India”, “Digital India” etc. are creating job opportunities in key manufacturing and servicesectors of the economy thereby, demanding quality skilled manpower.
